Get to know me

Hi, I'm Hannah.

My story changes depending on the lens through which I examine it. For much of my life, I believed the narratives I created about myself; Stories shaped by fear, shame, achievement, failure, and the many identities I accumulated along the way. Over time, I've become more interested in noticing those stories than believing them. Today, I try to hold my narratives lightly, observing the meanings my mind assigns to myself, others, and the circumstances of life, while returning again and again to what is actually here. What follows is not a definitive account of who I am, but rather a collection of experiences, turning points, and chapters that have helped shape the temporary landing place I find myself in today.

I have worked as a trauma informed therapist, freelance writer, addiction counselor, professional public speaker, private practice consultant, adjunct professor, camp counselor, ice cream scooper, and now, a personal guide who is deeply curious about what it means to be human.

I don't believe that any of the aforementioned nouns are who I am. They are jobs I have had or continue to have in various capacities. Who I am is constantly changing, one moment to the next. I believe that a job can be an opportunity to express a deeper purpose. Or sometimes it's just a way to pay the bills, which we all have to do, too. For me, they've been a bit of both.

There have been three pivotal moments in my life (so far) that I can trace directly to changing the course of who I continue become, both personally and professionally.

In 2011, I got sober. At the time, it felt less like a choice and more like a necessity. 15 years later, recovery has given me a way of living, a community, and a path toward honesty, self-discovery, and growth. It continues to shape who I am and how I move through the world today.

In 2015, during a particularly difficult season of my life, I just so happened to pick up “Daring Greatly” by Brené Brown. This book truly changed my life (my friends like to joke that I say that about too many things... but it's true)! Her research on shame, vulnerability, courage, and belonging struck something deep within me.

Since then, I've been drawn to conversations about shame, authenticity, self-trust, fear, relationships, recovery, purpose, and the stories we carry about who we are supposed to be. While my professional background is rooted in mental health counseling, the work I'm most passionate about extends beyond traditional clinical frameworks. I'm interested in the places where psychology, personal growth, spirituality, and everyday life overlap.

The most recent pivotal moment is much more recent-As winter softened into spring in 2025, I downloaded the Insight Timer app and unknowingly stepped into one of the most transformative chapters of my life. Through the app, I discovered Charles Freligh and began a daily practice of meditation, reflection, and studying Zen Buddhism and the Tao Te Ching. What started as a simple morning routine became the most meaningful practice of my life. In the summer of 2026, I attended one of Charles's meditation retreats, an experience that sparked the clarity, creativity, and alignment that ultimately inspired this website and the path I'm walking today.

My own experiences have taught me that lasting change rarely comes from trying to fix ourselves. More often, it comes from learning to understand ourselves with honesty and compassion. It comes from questioning inherited beliefs, releasing old patterns, and developing a deeper relationship with who we are beneath the noise.

Through writing, speaking, courses, videos, and one-on-one guidance, my intention is to create space for meaningful conversations that invite curiosity, reflection, and growth. My hope is to help people reconnect with themselves, trust their own inner wisdom, and build lives that feel more aligned, intentional, and authentic.

When I'm not working, you'll usually find me reading, learning the drums, playing Zelda on Switch, dancing in the kitchen, being fascinated by hummingbirds, auditioning for community musical theater, hyperfixating on something (as of now it's the new Sublime album), lifting heavy weights, staring into my dog's eyes, thinking about the show LOST, listening to & sending voicenotes to the women in my life, trying to get my husband to watch Buffy with me, or picking up a new hobby.

I've wanted to play the drums since I was a kid. So in 2025, I decided there was no reason not to.

Oh and lastly, here's something that I am deeply proud of, embarrassed by, and find hilarious: I was on season 45 of CBS' Survivor! I quit after 3 days (technically, I forced my tribe to vote me out) and the internet HATED that (but now I'm a meme). I'm a big fan of walking away from things that don't serve me, so I'm proud of my short lived Survivor cameo! If anything, it further helped me to release the debilitating fear of what others think of me. My two truths and lie will always include “I was on one episode of Survivor.”
